A pet-fee receipt is the wrong document to use as your only boarding check. Find the pet-transport approval for the flight you will actually take. Korean Air’s pet-travel guide says a pet arriving without prior approval cannot travel in either the cabin or hold. If you cannot find a clear approval result, resolve that with the airline before bringing the animal to the airport.
Match the approval to the actual itinerary
Put the booking, approval response and fee receipt side by side. Compare the flight number and date, pet, transport method and operating airline. This is especially useful after a flight change: an old email may describe a journey you are no longer taking. Ask a specific question: “Is this pet approved for this flight, in this carrier, in the cabin or hold?” Save the response with the booking.
Korean Air asks travelers to check transport eligibility at least 48 hours before international departure or 24 hours before domestic departure. Its booking can show a rejection reason. Those are reasons to act early, not a promise that a late request will succeed. On a codeshare, pet carriage depends on the operating carrier; check every leg separately.
Check documents and the carrier separately
The guide also requires applicable destination documents and an eligible animal and carrier. Aircraft, travel class and airport restrictions can matter. Use its current conditions for your transport method, then check entry and transit requirements with the relevant authorities. This article cannot determine an individual animal’s quarantine eligibility.
Make an unresolved-items list: a missing document, an unclear carrier requirement or an unconfirmed connecting flight. Ask the party responsible for each item, rather than asking a payment agent to settle an entry-rule question. If you switch the carrier or itinerary, send the changed details to the airline instead of assuming the earlier answer carries over.
Treat prepaid fare as a check-in item
Korean Air allows advance pet-fee payment on its website, but says check-in weight can change the amount. Keep the original receipt available if the counter quotes a different total. Ask staff to explain whether the difference is an adjustment to the existing payment or a separate charge before paying again.
If approval or documents remain unresolved, ask about changing or cancelling both the passenger journey and pet arrangement, including the cost of each. Do not buy a replacement flight until the new carrier has answered the pet question too. A prepaid fee does not establish a refund entitlement or make another flight suitable.
