Before relying on a flight with your powered wheelchair, give Korean Air enough information to decide whether that chair and battery can travel on that aircraft. Its wheelchair-assistance guide asks passengers to disclose an electric wheelchair when booking because airline battery handling may be required. Its restricted-items guide says the handling procedure and acceptance depend on chair size and battery type. A request for airport wheelchair help alone is not an acceptance decision for your own powered chair.
Prepare a chair record the airline can assess
Have the make and model, folded or transport dimensions, weight and any parts that change the packed size ready. Korean Air publishes aircraft cargo-door sizes and directs travelers to its service center when a chair may not fit. Ask which aircraft is scheduled for each operating flight and whether your measured chair fits its actual loading arrangement. A published door measurement is a screening clue, not an approval for your individual chair.
Find the manufacturer’s battery label or manual. Tell the airline whether the battery is lithium, dry-cell or wet-cell; whether it is removable; and the marked capacity or voltage information. For a wet-cell battery, ask what spillability information the airline needs. Do not guess a battery category from the chair’s appearance or use ordinary power-bank rules as a substitute. Ask the service center exactly what documentation it wants and who will perform any required battery handling. Do not detach, rewire or package a battery based solely on this article.
Get the transport decision and the mobility handoff
Ask the operating airline to confirm whether it accepts the chair on each flight, how its staff will secure or handle the battery, when you must hand over the chair, and what assistance covers the gap until it is returned. Keep the answer with the booking and show it again at check-in. If the aircraft or operating carrier changes, seek a new answer rather than assuming the earlier assessment still applies.
If the airline cannot confirm fit or battery handling, ask its service center about an alternative flight or other transport plan before travel day. If you are already at the airport, ask staff for an immediate carrier decision and a safe mobility handoff. Confirm any alternative chair or flight before relying on it. The separate manual-wheelchair arrival guide explains arrival handoff questions, but powered equipment needs this additional battery review first.
