If a Korea Customs search returns nothing, check what kind of number you entered before reporting the parcel missing. The Korea Customs Service tracking guide separates national postal items from courier/general cargo. Its postal link takes a postal tracking identifier; the cargo route asks for a Master B/L or House B/L. Your shop’s order number is not evidence that you have either one.
Match the number to the service that issued it
Start with the dispatch confirmation or posting receipt. Read the carrier name and the label beside the reference. Keep the complete string, including letters. The customs guide describes a 13-character postal identifier and shows alphanumeric examples for EMS, registered items and international parcels. A reference that merely looks similar is not enough to select that route.
For national post, use EMS (National Postal Service) on the official guide. For express couriers or general cargo, use Import Cargo Tracking and the Master/House B/L identified by the carrier. Do not trim a courier number until it fits a postal form or invent a B/L from an order number. If the shipment has several references, ask which one belongs in the Korean cargo lookup and whether another is only the seller’s order reference.
For example, a shop’s email may contain both “Order” and “Tracking” fields. Copying “Order” into two different trackers does not provide two independent signs that the box is missing. First ask the seller to identify the actual carrier record. If you sent belongings separately from your flight, the unaccompanied-luggage guide helps distinguish an airline bag, a mailed parcel and a freight shipment before you pursue a customs inquiry.
When the correct lookup is still blank
Save the search page name, field selected, date and exact message. Contact the sender or carrier through the contact route on your booking or dispatch record. A useful request is:
“Please identify the carrier handling this shipment in Korea, the reference type I should search, and the official tracking link. This reference returns no result in this field. What is the latest movement you can confirm, and is any action required from me?”
Include a screenshot with unrelated personal details removed. If a Korean phone-based sign-in blocks your inquiry, contact the sender through your existing order conversation and ask them to open it as the contracting sender. Ask for the carrier’s response, not just a new copy of the same tracking number. The carrier may still require identity or shipment evidence before disclosing a record.
Distinguish no search result, a recorded customs step, and confirmed delivery. A blank page alone establishes none of the shipment’s location, loss, clearance or refund eligibility. If the carrier identifies a specific customs notice, ask for its reference, issuing office and required response. Use the official contact it identifies rather than paying through an unsolicited “release fee” message.
