Changing a BUSTAGO Ticket: Will Your Card Be Charged Again?

On BUSTAGO, a seat-only change does not require entering payment details again, but changing the departure time or bus class cancels the original payment and charges again, according to its official ticket guide. Before selecting a change, check which of those actions you are taking and whether the card can cover a new charge while the old payment is being reversed. Do not assume that the canceled amount is already available to spend.

Identify the change before confirming payment

What you changePayment effect described by BUSTAGOWhat to verify next
Seat onlyNo need to enter payment details again. The updated seat appears on the booking you intend to use.
Departure time or bus classThe old payment is canceled and a new charge is made. The new itinerary is confirmed and the old charge’s cancellation status is visible to the issuer.

The guide does not promise that the original authorization will release instantly. Card-issuer processing and any applicable fees still matter. If you cannot fund another charge or the change result is unclear, check the booking and payment records before retrying. A second purchase can create a second reservation instead of repairing the first one.

Find the completed booking before buying again

After payment or a change attempt, use BUSTAGO’s 조회/변경/취소 (lookup/change/cancel) route to see whether the booking succeeded and which ticket is current. Keep the reservation details and payment record together. If a payment alert appears without a usable ticket, confirm the booking with BUSTAGO or the departure terminal before paying again.

For a nonmember lookup, the guide offers the original card number or the birth date and phone number used for the booking. Enter the information originally used, not a replacement card number or a newly acquired phone number. These routes do not prove that every overseas-issued card or foreign mobile number is accepted at purchase.

If the original card is lost, go to the departure terminal

The ordinary ticket-issuance route calls for the original payment card at a counter or kiosk. If that card was lost or reissued and you no longer remember its number, the guide directs you to a staffed counter at the departure terminal with the original booking birth date and phone number. Do this before departure; the guide says a ticket cannot be issued after the bus has left. Check the terminal and counter route while you still have time. Counter access and hours depend on the terminal, so do not rely on a kiosk or a last-minute arrival as the only plan.

Some debit or corporate cards have restrictions under the guide; do not infer that a different card will work without checking the actual checkout. If you cancel after the original card payment has already been captured, the guide says the refund can take about seven days depending on the card issuer. That is a possible processing period, not a guaranteed release time. Keep the cancellation reference and ask the issuer about an unresolved old charge.

For a new route rather than a change to an existing BUSTAGO booking, use the intercity and express bus guide to identify the booking system and exact terminal pair.
