Before leaving an SKT line unused abroad, ask whether you need a requested temporary pause (일시정지). That state differs from carrier-imposed no-use suspension (이용정지). Check your line’s current state, payment position and future access to authentication messages before departure; simply putting the SIM away does not establish that the number will remain usable.
Are you arranging a pause before departure?
SKT’s pause FAQ lists an ordinary limit of four pauses per month and 180 days per year. It separately shows an overseas long-term application with a selectable start date. On the web, the published route is MY → 분실/정지/해제 → 휴대폰 정지/해제; the app lists 나의 가입 정보 → 일시정지 신청, with a long-term choice for that request. Ask which route fits your dates and what supporting evidence or charges apply.
The FAQ distinguishes outgoing-only suspension, with receiving available for seven days before both directions stop, from suspension of both directions. Choose with your authentication needs in mind rather than assuming the paused number will keep receiving codes. These are published menus and modes, not a tested foreign-account login or overseas service guarantee.
If you cannot authenticate, contact SKT or a staffed T world location before departure and ask what identity evidence and line-specific steps are required. A website-account problem alone does not establish that the mobile contract has been suspended.
Have you received a no-use notice?
The terms notice effective April 6, 2026 covers lines not already paused or suspended with at least ten months without incoming/outgoing calls, outgoing texts or data use; earlier unused time also counts. It specifies at least three advance notices, 30–7 days before suspension. One use or an objection through its stated channels after notice prevents this particular suspension.
Read the notice’s exact line, deadline and response route. If you cannot use the line, ask SKT how to submit the objection; do not confuse this with a nonpayment or identity block.
Is the line already suspended or terminated?
Under that clause, termination may follow two months after no-use suspension. A request to lift it within those two months prevents that termination. Contact SKT promptly with the notice and ask what separate account issues remain; a request is not proof that service has already resumed.
The notice’s six-month post-termination restoration option concerns specified tenure and membership history. It does not promise the old number back. Confirm the actual contract and number status before relying on either for banking, messaging or bookings.
SKT’s current pause FAQ and terms-change notice checked October 5, 2026 KST. No pause, objection or reactivation was submitted.
