Before carrying a foreign-bought TV or notebook to a Korean service center, identify the brand, exact product class and full model number. Then check the manufacturer’s Korea-facing rule for that product, the purchase country and date, and the proof you still have. LG’s direct-import TV exception is different from LG notebook International Warranty Service (IWS); Samsung’s cited international programme is for Notebook PCs, not every Samsung device. Contact the Korean center with the model and evidence before transporting or shipping the product.
Start with LG’s product-specific route
LG Korea’s service guidance says an overseas-purchased or directly imported product ordinarily receives paid service only if compatible parts make service possible. It separately describes a one-year free-service exception for qualifying direct-import TVs and panels when the customer has the purchase receipt and shipping invoice. Do not extend that TV exception to all LG electronics, or assume that a foreign TV model can be repaired if Korean-compatible parts are unavailable.
For an LG notebook, use LG’s International Warranty Service list instead. Korea appears among the listed service countries, but the programme is limited to listed notebook model families and countries. A model absent from the current list is not covered merely because it is less than a year old. LG also limits IWS requests to the original purchaser for personal use. LG states 12 months from purchase, or 15 months from manufacture if the purchase date is unknown. Country procedures differ, and service may be delayed or unavailable. The IWS page does not offer exchange or refund outside the country of purchase.
Samsung’s international route is for Notebook PCs
Samsung’s Notebook International Warranty lists Korea among its service countries and describes one year of repair coverage for eligible Notebook PCs/mobile computers. It excludes desktops, all-in-ones and accessories. Samsung lists Korea’s center as 1588-3366. Contact it first with the full model and serial number; the center may request the international-warranty card and purchase proof. This warranty route does not transfer exchange or refund rights away from the purchase country. It also cannot establish coverage for an unrelated Samsung TV or phone.
If the model or parts do not qualify
LG lists its Korean service center as 1544-7777. Give the local manufacturer center the model and serial number, purchase country and date, service country, receipt and any shipping invoice or warranty card. Ask it to confirm the applicable programme, compatible parts, whether paid service is possible, and a case reference before bringing or mailing the device. Back up a notebook’s data before any handoff if it is still accessible.
If LG cannot supply compatible parts, the notebook model is outside IWS, or a Samsung device is outside the Notebook PC scope, ask for the manufacturer’s available paid-service route in writing. For exchange or refund questions, contact the original seller or the purchase-country warranty channel. None of the cited programmes promises a particular part, price, turnaround, collection service or repair outcome for your individual device.
