If you have already left Korea with money on a normally working EZL card, compare the balance with the overseas refund costs before submitting a request. EZL’s English visitor FAQ directs overseas balance requests to the EZL TOP UP app’s chatbot. It lists a 4% refund fee, a KRW 13,000 remittance fee and possible exchange-related deductions. A small balance may produce little or no useful payout.
Compare the balance with the deductions
Check your actual card balance and make a rough calculation before starting the chatbot process. For example, KRW 30,000 minus 4% and KRW 13,000 leaves KRW 15,800 before any exchange-related deduction. That is an illustration, not a refund quote: the amount ultimately received depends on the applicable exchange and destination details supplied by EZL. If the likely deductions exceed the balance, ask the issuer whether a request is worthwhile before providing payment information.
This is a balance refund for a card that still works. A lost or damaged card, or a refund coupon from a cancelled purchase, has a different question and should not be treated as this route.
Check the overseas instructions for your destination
In the foreigner EZL TOP UP app, look for the chatbot guidance headed “How to refund in a country other than Korea.” Check whether its current instructions accept your receiving country and account; the public FAQ does not list those conditions. The FAQ says the request asks for essential details including the card’s 16-digit number, and describes a one-to-two-month process. Keep the card number and a record of the request, but do not assume that any particular foreign bank account or the card originally used to pay will receive the refund. Confirm the destination, required fields and expected deductions in the issuer’s current instructions before applying.
If the app or chatbot is inaccessible, email the customer-inquiry address in the same official FAQ, total003@myezl.com, to ask EZL what overseas route is available for your card and country. The FAQ asks email inquiries to include the 16-digit card number; email is an inquiry channel, not a confirmed substitute for submitting the refund request. Wait for EZL’s instructions before sending bank details or paying anyone who claims to guarantee recovery.
