Unused Starline Return Ticket? Keep the Use-Cancellation Confirmation

If you will not use a Starline return sailing, ask how to cancel the ticket’s use and obtain the dated confirmation before the return departs. Starline’s refund guide says the issue time of the use-cancellation confirmation (사용취소확인증) determines the refund timing for an unused return. The later date when you ask for payment does not create an earlier cancellation record.

Which record fixes the cancellation time?

Keep the original ticket or booking reference, the unused return’s date and route, and the confirmation showing when ticket use was cancelled. Starline says the confirmation is issued at the place where use is cancelled, while the refund itself is handled by the office that issued the ticket. Those may require separate steps. Before the return departure, ask the issuing office which counter or channel can cancel use for your ticket and what proof it will accept. Do not assume an email, a screenshot of an unsubmitted request or an unused reservation alone substitutes for the confirmation.

If you cannot obtain the document where you are, contact the issuing office promptly and ask how it will record the unused return and what evidence to preserve now. Keep its answer with the ticket and any dated messages. The published guide does not identify a universal Japan-side counter or guarantee that a later request will be backdated.

Where is the refund decided?

Take the ticket, cancellation record and any earlier issuer response back to the original issuing office for an itemized eligibility decision. Ask it to confirm the applicable fare conditions, the ticket’s actual validity end, the amount after any deductions and the payment route. The refund guide describes validity from ticket issue, while Article 3 of the carriage terms distinguishes travel that has begun from an entirely unused ticket. Have the issuer confirm the expiry for this return; do not select a starting date from whichever page gives more time. A special or discounted fare can use separate rules.

Starline lists 1599-0255 and help@thestarline.co.kr as contacts. They are useful for asking where to act, but sending an inquiry is not itself proof that use was cancelled, a refund was filed or money is due. No foreign-card destination or refund outcome is established by the published instructions.
