GoHanpass merchant QR and barcode payments cannot send a Korean domestic bank transfer. The provider’s wallet capability table lists merchant payments and ATM withdrawals, but explicitly excludes domestic, contact and QR transfer functions. If a guesthouse, booking seller or individual asks you to send money to a Korean account number, first identify an accepted payment route; the presence of a QR sign does not turn that request into a merchant checkout.
Is the payee asking for a purchase or a transfer?
Read the invoice or booking message and ask who receives the money and how the seller confirms the order. A participating shop’s barcode or ZeroPay merchant QR is a checkout instrument: the provider’s FAQ describes scanning a store’s QR and entering an amount for that merchant payment. A request for a named bank account and transfer reference is a different transaction. Do not top up GoHanpass on the assumption that its merchant payment logo can send funds directly to that account.
Ask the seller whether it accepts a direct card checkout, cash at a staffed counter, a supported prepaid payment, or a merchant QR for this exact reservation. Use a route only after the seller confirms it and you can access it. None of those methods is universally available to foreign visitors, and a sticker or payment logo alone does not prove this seller’s active acceptance. GoHanpass’s overseas balance-remittance feature does not switch on the absent domestic-transfer function.
If you tried to pay but the order is still unclear
Check your wallet transaction history and ask the seller whether it received an order payment before trying again. Keep the amount, time, booking reference and any error, but do not treat an app debit or a QR scan alone as a confirmed booking. If the seller still needs a bank transfer, ask it for an independently accepted payment method or choose a seller you can actually pay. Do not use another person’s Korean identity or bank account as a workaround.
