An LG U+ Pocket WiFi can create four different money records: a credit-card authorization, a debit-card deposit, daily rent and a lost-or-damaged-device charge. Name the record on your statement before asking for a refund. Returning the device closes some states, but it does not make them interchangeable.
Start with the card used at pickup
The current LG U+ Pocket WiFi page says a passport and credit or debit card are required for the airport-counter deposit. For a credit card, the name must match the passport and LG U+ describes a KRW 1,111 authorization without an actual charge. For a debit card, it describes a KRW 70,000 charge that is automatically refunded after the device is received in good condition.
Check whether the bank record is pending, completed or reversed. Do not call the credit authorization a paid deposit, or the debit deposit a lost-device fee. The page does not promise that every foreign-issued card works or state how long a bank takes to display a release or refund.
Return the device to stop daily rent
Rental fees continue by day until the device is returned. The LG U+ rental FAQ says it can be returned at one of its listed customer centers at Incheon, Gimpo or Gimhae airport even when that is not the pickup airport. This does not mean any telecom counter or airport desk can receive it.
Before leaving, confirm that the chosen LG U+ return desk will be open when you reach it. Keep the rental record and ask for confirmation that the device was received. If a debit deposit has not appeared back in the bank record, ask LG U+ to confirm the recorded return and refund first; then give that evidence to the card issuer if needed.
If the rental period must change, request an extension before relying on extra days. The page lists KRW 4,400 per day and directs users to website chat or 010-3998-1004. Calling that number may incur charges unless the call is from a U+ mobile phone. The page does not promise English service or automatic approval.
Report loss first, then preserve the recovery record
LG U+ instructs customers to report loss or damage immediately and says a fee is charged. It also says that fee is refunded if the device is found and returned within 14 days. The page does not define which event starts that 14-day count, so confirm the recorded deadline with LG U+ rather than calculating it from an assumed date.
Keep the loss report, charge record and return receipt together. Ask LG U+ to identify which charge is being reviewed. A returned device does not itself prove when the refund will appear or whether a damaged unit meets the stated recovery condition.
If the deposit card is the blocker
The walk-in route still requires the stated passport and deposit card, so arriving without a reservation is not a bypass. LG U+ presents a data SIM or eSIM as a prospective choice that does not require device return. Consider that only if the phone is compatible and the current purchase route accepts the traveller’s identity and payment; the page does not guarantee that it is cheaper or that it avoids every card or activation check.
