Choose the experience before opening a reservation page. The National Museum of Korea currently uses separate routes for the Children’s Museum, its VR experience, other immersive content, and the Museum Highlights Tour for international visitors. “Free” does not mean the same entry process for all four.
Match the activity to its official route
- Children's Museum: The museum’s reservations page says admission is free, but an online reservation and mobile ticket are required.
- VR experience: The same page routes the VR experience in Immersive Digital Gallery 2 to a separate online reservation.
- Other immersive content: The museum says advance booking is not required for immersive digital content other than the VR experience. Check the current gallery notice before relying on that as a same-day alternative.
- Museum Highlights Tour: The regular guided-tour page lists current languages, times, and a gathering point for international visitors. It also says the schedule can change every month.
A Children’s Museum ticket does not reserve VR, and a VR booking does not establish a place on a guided tour. Keep each confirmation attached to the activity and date it names.
The VR route has extra gates
The current VR reservation page says booking opens 30 days before the planned visit and requires a museum account. It limits an account to one reservation per day, allows reservation or cancellation before the session begins, and warns that arrival more than five minutes after the start may prevent entry.
The page also limits the experience to visitors aged eight or older and at least 130 centimeters tall. Check those conditions before creating an account or changing the rest of the museum plan. Check the live booking screen for the permitted reservation size and remaining session places; do not borrow a count from a different museum program.
If signup or the booking step fails, do not treat an error screen as a reservation. Save the activity, date, session, account email, and exact error. Check the current official page again before travelling. Other non-VR immersive content may be a practical alternative only when its current notice and access conditions fit the visitor.
A tour listing is a meeting plan, not a booking result
The international highlights page currently names English, Chinese, and Japanese tours and gives the gathering point in front of the Korean Empire section on the first floor of the Permanent Exhibition Hall. Read the live page for the date’s language and time; the monthly-change warning means an old screenshot or itinerary is not enough.
If the required language or time is not shown, choose another confirmed museum activity or another date. Do not assume that arriving at the meeting point creates a tour, that a reservation for another museum area transfers to it, or that a listed tour has room for every arrival.
Official National Museum of Korea pages checked October 6, 2026 KST. Recheck the activity, date, reservation state, language, and gathering point before travel.
