No Boarding Pass After Korean Air Online Check-in?

If Korean Air online or automated check-in produced no boarding pass, reopen the booking and look for an issued boarding pass. A request confirmation or selected seat is not enough. If departure is approaching, take your passport, required travel documents and booking reference to the staffed check-in counter. For a flight operated by Korean Air, use its counter; if another airline operates the flight, check that carrier’s instructions first.

First identify which check-in stage you reached

Korean Air’s online check-in page gives these windows: 48 hours to 30 minutes before Korean domestic departures; 48 hours to one hour before international departures; and 24 hours to one hour for US/Canada routes. A confirmed booking is required. If you are too early, repeated attempts will not open check-in sooner.

Automated check-in adds another delay between those states. The automated check-in page allows enrollment for a paid booking until 48 hours before departure, then processes check-in automatically 24 hours before departure. Enrolling earlier does not mean a pass has already been issued.

For example, auto-check-in enrollment two days before a flight can precede boarding-pass processing by a day. After processing, reopen the booking instead of using the enrollment screen as your airport credential.

If the official page opens in another language, use Korean Air’s language selector.

Check where the pass was supposed to arrive

For automated check-in, Korean Air asks for an accurate email address or mobile number for boarding-pass delivery. Its current page limits mobile delivery to Korean phone numbers. If you entered a foreign number, do not wait for a text that the page does not promise.

Use the email option where offered, check spam or filtered folders, and reopen the reservation on the official website or app. A data connection does not establish SMS capability; our Korea eSIM phone-number guide explains that distinction. Buying another data plan is not a reliable fix for a delivery route limited to Korean numbers.

If you cannot access the booking or no pass is present, save the exact error for the counter. A confirmation email or screenshot of a request helps explain the problem; it does not replace an issued boarding pass.

Some passengers still need a staff document check

No boarding pass does not by itself mean the flight was canceled. Korean Air lists situations in which self-service is unavailable or check-in can finish without online pass issuance. These include some departure airports, certain child or infant itineraries, passengers who need specified special services, and cases where travel documents require staff review.

If the message concerns travel documents, bring the originals and preserve its exact wording. Correct any typing mismatch against those documents; do not change nationality, passport or visa details merely to get past a screen. Staff review is a next step, not a promise that boarding or entry will be permitted.

Take the booking and error to the counter

The Korean Air airport-counter guide tells passengers who cannot use self check-in to prepare their passport and required travel documents. Bring these together:

  • the booking reference and flight number;
  • the passport and any required travel documents;
  • the email address or Korean mobile number entered for delivery;
  • the last check-in status or error; and
  • every boarding pass already issued for that flight.

Arrive with time for the counter, baggage handoff and security. The current general counter page lists closure 30 minutes before domestic departure and one hour before international departure, while also telling passengers to arrive well in advance. Airport, itinerary and document conditions can require more time, so those cutoffs are not a safe arrival target.

Keep the newest pass and handle baggage separately

Checked baggage remains a separate step after self check-in. Korean Air directs passengers with bags to an available self-service bag drop or airport counter. A boarding pass does not prove that a bag has been accepted, and a bag receipt does not replace the pass.

If you already received a paper pass and later reissued an online pass, compare them before using either. Korean Air says that for departures from Korea, reissuing an online boarding pass makes the earlier paper pass unusable. Keep the newest issued pass available, then confirm the gate and boarding deadline from the current airport display and airline record.

An online check-in deadline, counter closure and boarding deadline are different checkpoints. Plan your airport arrival around completing all three, including time for any unresolved document check.
