Replacing an LG U+ USIM? Check Android Mobile Tmoney Balance First

Before replacing a physical LG U+ USIM in an Android phone, check whether Mobile Tmoney is prepaid or postpaid. Tmoney’s April 7, 2026 LG U+ replacement notice says prepaid transit value is stored on the USIM, so request the refund before the swap. End the postpaid billing service before replacing its USIM. Keep the old physical USIM even after a swap until its value and service state are resolved. This notice does not cover iPhones or every carrier and eSIM change.

Check the product while the old USIM is still available

Open the Mobile Tmoney app and identify the transport product and whether it is prepaid balance or postpaid billing. For prepaid Mobile Tmoney, open the menu (≡), then 교통카드 → 환불신청 (Transit Card → Refund Request). The notice asks you to select a registered account or enter one, read the notes and confirm. Check that you can complete the account and identity steps before handing over the USIM; the notice does not establish that an overseas account or every foreign-issued payment method is accepted. Preserve the balance and request record without sharing account details in a public support message.

For postpaid Mobile Tmoney, the notice directs closure before the swap: menu (≡) → 교통카드 → 충전형 서비스로 전환 (Transit Card → switch to prepaid service), apply and confirm. Follow the notice’s product-specific closure path; do not load additional value merely to test it. Do not treat a current transit tap or a new phone’s mobile connection as proof that the postpaid state is closed. Check the app’s resulting status before relying on the replacement phone for travel.

If the USIM has already been replaced

Do not discard the charged old USIM. Tmoney says a refund cannot be made when the old physical USIM holding prepaid value is gone. If you still have it but already swapped, ask Tmoney for the applicable refund procedure rather than assuming the new USIM contains the balance. If postpaid service was not ended before the swap, the notice directs users to Tmoney customer service at 1644-0088. That number is an inquiry route, not a guarantee of foreign-language support, authentication or a particular payout.

If mobile transit access is blocked, arrange a separately usable physical transit card and a top-up method accepted at the outlet before travelling. A replacement phone’s working data connection does not prove that either the mobile balance or the card’s payment method is ready. The T-money card guide explains ordinary card use; it does not recover value from a discarded USIM. Keep the old hardware and your own account records until the specific balance question is answered.
