Air Busan Name Error? Check Whether It Is the Same Passenger

Compare the ticket with the passport before asking to “change the name.” Air Busan distinguishes a spelling correction for the same passenger from replacing that passenger with another person. The first can be reviewed; the second is not permitted.

Is this still the same person?

The current Air Busan international fare page lists foreign-passenger first- or last-name correction fees. Its Korean FAQ limits the spelling exception to the same pronunciation after confirming that it is the same person.

Write down the ticket spelling and passport spelling exactly. Identify every difference rather than asking for a general rename. A different traveler, even a friend or relative, is not a correction and cannot take over the issued ticket.

Check the listed fee and waiver categories

For an international ticket, Air Busan lists a name-change fee of KRW10,000 per person, per sector. A round trip therefore has more than one sector. The page says adults and children use the same fee, while infants are exempt.

It also lists possible fee-waiver categories: reversed first and last names, documented legal renaming, adding the full middle name, an Air Busan booking error and a mistyped gender. These labels do not make a waiver automatic. Ask what evidence applies to the exact ticket, and keep a valid ID ready.

Use the issuer that controls the ticket

For a ticket bought directly from Air Busan, the page routes name changes through its airport office or reservation center. If a travel agency or portal issued the ticket, contact that original seller instead. The FAQ lists the local reservation-center number 1666-3060; it does not establish international dialing access or English service. Keep the original seller route or the airline’s stated airport-office route if the telephone route is unavailable, and confirm its current hours before relying on a visit.

Send only the records the issuer requests. Ask it to confirm that the passenger remains the same person, whether it accepts the spelling change, what fee applies to each sector and what corrected document will be issued. A support conversation alone is not a corrected ticket.

If it is not an eligible correction

Do not travel with a ticket assigned to another person or keep editing the spelling to resemble a different passenger. Ask the issuer whether the original ticket can be refunded, then make a new reservation in the actual passenger’s legal name if available.

Air Busan does not promise refund eligibility, the original fare or the same flight and seat after rebooking. Confirm the outcome before relying on the replacement trip.
