Air Seoul Special Fare Change? Check Permission Before the Fee

A displayed change fee does not prove that your fare class can be changed. Air Seoul’s current international table first divides tickets by departure region and fare class. Check permission before comparing the cost of a new itinerary.

Was the ticket issued on or after August 1, 2024?

The current Air Seoul international fare page applies this table to tickets issued from August 1, 2024. Start with the issue date shown on the ticket or receipt. An older ticket needs the rule attached to its own issue date rather than this table being applied backward.

Next, identify the region of the itinerary’s first departure sector. If that first flight departs Korea, use the Korea-departure table instead of selecting the overseas table from the return leg. Do not classify it only by the final destination or return flight.

Is the first departure from Japan?

For a Japan-origin itinerary, Air Seoul marks special fare classes R, U, I, X, A and P as not changeable. If the receipt shows one of those classes, stop before treating a fee quote as permission.

Ask the issuer to confirm the recorded origin and class. If a change is unavailable, ask separately whether the fare has any refund path, then compare a new booking only after receiving that answer. The table does not promise a refund, retained fare or replacement seat.

Is it from Southeast Asia, Hong Kong or Guam?

For those origins, the table permits changes for R and U with a fee, while I, X, A and P are marked not changeable. A fare difference is separate from the fee. The page also says changes can only be made to higher fares; permission to change does not preserve the old fare.

Record the old route, dates and fare class before asking for a quote. Request an itemized answer that separates permission, the change fee and any fare difference. Do not cancel first merely because another flight appears available.

Who currently controls the ticket?

Start with the issuer shown on the receipt. For a direct Air Seoul ticket, use the airline’s current inquiry route. For a ticket issued by another seller, ask that issuer which rules and channel control its record.

If an online booking was later modified through the call center, Air Seoul says later changes or cancellation must also go through the call center. This is a channel rule, not a promise of English service, approval or a particular refund outcome.

Keep the issuer’s written answer and any replacement quote. If the fare is non-changeable, a confirmed refund-and-new-booking option or a different confirmed trip is safer than repeatedly attempting an unavailable change control.
