EZL Payment Cancelled? Load the Coupon Back to Your Card

An EZL cancellation coupon needs a separate top-up onto the physical card before it becomes spendable card balance. Check the coupon’s issue date immediately: the official guide says it disappears seven days after issuance and cannot be reissued after expiry.

Confirm what was returned

Start with the cancelled payment record. Keep the amount, date and time, merchant, and the card used. Then open the EZL TOP-UP app and look for the coupon notice and issue date.

Do not treat the coupon as cash, a completed refund to the original payment method, or spendable EZL balance yet. The official EZL guide for foreign users says the amount received by coupon must be charged to the card balance before use. The page does not state how quickly a cancellation coupon will be issued.

Keep the physical card and the cancellation record until the coupon has been dealt with. A merchant’s cancellation confirmation and the app’s coupon notice describe different steps; check both before deciding that the value is available again.

Load the cancellation coupon onto the physical card

The current Japanese-language guide shows these EZL TOP-UP labels:

  1. Select カード照会 (card inquiry).
  2. Present the physical EZL card as instructed for the app’s card-read step.
  3. Select クーポン (coupon).
  4. Check the coupon amount and issue information.
  5. Select チャージ (charge) to load it onto the card.

The guide expressly requires the physical card for card inquiry and coupon charging. A photo of the card number, cancellation receipt, coupon notice, or account screen is not presented as a substitute. It also does not establish that every phone is compatible or that a lost physical card can be bypassed with the 16-digit number.

Verify the load separately

After the charge step, open 利用明細 > 最近 (usage history > recent) and look for the loading record. The guide says the app displays up to the latest 20 transactions. Read the physical card again and compare its balance with the recorded coupon load before relying on that value for another payment.

Save the cancellation record, coupon notice, coupon issue and expiry information, charge result, and recent-history entry. Keep coupon issuance, card loading, and later spending as separate states. An app notification proves only what it actually shows; it does not by itself prove the card balance changed.

What if the coupon is missing or the card will not read?

Act before the displayed expiry. Record the cancellation amount and time, coupon state, error, physical-card status, and any loading or history result. The guide lists total003@myezl.com for inquiries and asks users to include the 16-digit number of the card currently in use.

Ask EZL to confirm the state of that specific cancellation and which accepted remedy applies. The email route does not promise a refund, extension, coupon reissue, cash conversion, response time, or pause of the seven-day clock. Do not send passwords, one-time codes, or unrelated payment details, and do not repeat the payment merely because the coupon or load is unclear.

If the coupon was already loaded and you have left Korea with ordinary stored balance, an overseas balance-refund request is a separate process. Use the EZL balance refund guide to compare the applicable balance route; it is not an escape from an expired or inaccessible coupon.

Before closing the case

Check that the original payment state, coupon amount, coupon issue date, physical-card charge, and recent-history record agree. If any state remains uncertain, keep the evidence and ask about that existing case before paying again or assuming the value was lost.
