Identify the line’s actual D-day and current status before adding money. KT’s current LTE Welcome Prepaid page says outgoing calls stop when the balance is exhausted, its validity expires, or the registered stay period ends. Those triggers can occur on different dates. Confirm that your product is LTE Welcome Prepaid, rather than a tourist eSIM, reseller plan, or a different prepaid product. If the line cannot call out, use the official page’s Find a store route to arrange an in-person status check.
Separate the three clocks
- Included allowance: the plan’s included data, calls, and messages are usable for 30 days from subscription and recharge.
- Charged-balance validity: each recharge has its own validity period. Unused balance is lost when that validity expires.
- Passport or identity period: a customer without a registered foreigner identification number can use this product for 90 days, with a store real-name verification route for an extension.
Do not calculate “90 days plus 14 plus 44” from the purchase date. Ask KT which event created D-day for this line and which state the provider currently records.
Match the next action to the status
At D-day, outgoing calls stop while incoming calls remain possible. If there is no recharge or identity verification, both incoming and outgoing calls stop at D+14. KT says the plan automatically terminates at D+44.
Before D+44, take the phone, passport, foreigner identification if available, plan name, activation date, and any displayed expiry or recharge record to a KT store. Ask staff to identify whether the line needs a valid recharge, real-name verification, or another account action. The result is a carrier decision, not something this guide can promise.
If real-name verification is already in progress, KT says recharge is available only at a store and service remains limited until verification finishes. Online recharge, ARS, and My KT are therefore not independent fallbacks for that state.
If the line cannot call out
Use the in-person KT store route with your own phone and identity records. The product page advertises the multilingual call center at 080-448-0100, but a line with outgoing calls blocked cannot use that fact as its recovery method. Do not borrow another person’s identity or account. Store language availability, document acceptance, payment method, completion time, and service restoration are not guaranteed.
After D+44, ask KT to confirm whether the number is terminated and what options actually remain. Do not buy a recharge first and assume it can rescue a terminated number. If the number cannot be recovered, secure a separately confirmed working line and update critical contacts only after the replacement is active.
Protect money before changing service
KT says charged prepaid amounts are nonrefundable and remaining balance is not returned on cancellation. It also says remaining prepaid value does not carry into postpaid service, and postpaid benefits do not carry into prepaid service. Confirm the line state and the destination service before charging or migrating.
The general KT requirements page describes a broader prepaid suspension rule, but the product-specific D-day, D+14, and D+44 sequence above belongs to LTE Welcome Prepaid. Do not merge the generic timing into this plan’s recovery decision.
A working calling line still does not prove that an app accepts the number for identity checks. Use the phone-number and app-verification guide for that separate requirement.
KT’s current LTE Welcome Prepaid and service-requirements pages checked October 6, 2026 KST. Confirm the actual D-day, identity state, balance validity, and line status with KT before paying.
