Order Korean BBQ by turning every menu line into four fields: exact cut, displayed price unit, quantity, and table minimum. Then confirm additions before they reach the grill. This prevents the common mistake of treating one price as the whole-table total.

Translate one menu line into a transaction
| Field | What to point at | Question |
|---|---|---|
| Cut or set | Korean name and photo | Is this the exact item? |
| Price unit | Per serving, set or person | What does this displayed price cover? |
| Quantity | Number entered | How many are we ordering now? |
| Minimum | Table or first-order rule | Can different meats satisfy it? |
Do not treat grams as the final bill
A gram figure may describe one serving, a set component or raw meat weight. The bill can also include multiple servings, drinks, premium sides or finishing dishes. Ask for the current order subtotal if the interface does not make it clear.
Minimum-order decision tree
- Ask whether the minimum is per table, per person or only for the first order.
- Ask whether two different cuts can be combined.
- For one diner, ask whether a two-serving minimum still applies.
- Confirm whether later additions may be single servings.
- If the answer is unclear, do not submit the order yet.
Cuts describe meat, not cooking or allergens
| Menu signal | What it usually helps identify | Still verify |
|---|---|---|
| 삼겹살 / samgyeopsal | Pork belly | Marinade, grill, serving unit |
| 목살 / moksal | Pork neck or shoulder cut | Exact cut and seasoning |
| 갈비 / galbi | Rib-related cut or preparation | Beef or pork, marinade, bone |
| 불고기 / bulgogi | Usually seasoned sliced meat | Sauce and cooking method |
| 한우 / hanu | Korean beef designation | Cut, grade, unit and price |
Use a first-order script
“We want this item. Is the price for one serving? What is the minimum order? Can we order one of this and one of that? Please show the quantity before submitting.” Keep the Korean menu name visible rather than relying on a translated meat name alone.
Choose the first batch conservatively
Order enough to meet the stated minimum, not every item the group might want. After cooking speed, portion size and appetite are visible, add the next cut. This protects the budget and keeps the grill manageable.
Treat staff suggestions as a proposed order
A recommendation can be helpful, but repeat the cut, quantity and price unit before agreeing. “Best,” “popular,” or “for two people” does not by itself state the total charge.
Ordering by kiosk or tablet
Before the final button, capture the cart: item names, quantities, options and subtotal. Confirm whether a tap added one serving or one set. Allergy notes in a device are not proof that the kitchen received and verified them.
Additions during the meal
Every new meat, drink, stew, noodles or fried rice is a separate decision. Ask whether it is already included and read back quantity. A staff member placing an item on the table does not always mean it is complimentary.
Bill audit
- Match each item name to something ordered.
- Compare quantities, not only line prices.
- Identify drinks and finishing dishes.
- Ask about an unfamiliar line before payment.
- Keep the receipt until the card transaction is confirmed.
When translation disagrees with the menu
Use the Korean item name, menu section and price as the stable identifiers. Ask staff to point to the exact line. Do not combine two translations into a guessed cut.
Allergy questions are a separate gate
Do not bury an allergy in the quantity discussion. Before ordering, use the Korean food-allergy card and the safety hub. A correct bill does not mean a dish is safe.
Worked example without a fake price
Two diners choose one pork cut and one beef cut. Staff confirm each line is one serving and the table minimum is two servings that may be mixed. The group orders one of each, verifies the cart subtotal, then waits before adding noodles. The method stays valid even when every number changes.
