Can Foreigners Use Baemin in Korea? NICE, Phone, Payment, and Hotel Delivery

Yes. Baemin’s current English traveler page says it accepts foreign credit cards, WeChat Pay, and Alipay+, and that a Korean phone number is not required. The same official page promotes delivery to hotels and Airbnbs. That is a stronger answer than older advice that treated Baemin as available only to people with a Korean number. You still need the current official app, a deliverable address, a payment that completes authorization, and a handoff point the rider can find.

What Baemin officially tells international visitors now

The official Baemin global page is written for international visitors. Its FAQ currently gives four useful answers:

• Language: the app is available in English, Japanese, and Chinese.
• Payment: Baemin says it accepts foreign credit cards, WeChat Pay, and Alipay+.
• Phone: the payment answer explicitly says no Korean phone number is required.
• Price and tracking: delivery and additional fees are shown before the order, and estimated time plus real-time tracking are available, with a stated limitation for some delivery types.

The global page also names hotels, Airbnbs, and the Han River as delivery settings. The official Baemin App Store listing identifies Woowa Bros as the developer and lists English, Japanese, Korean, and Simplified Chinese. It also notes that some services are available only in selected areas. These are first-party descriptions, not a promise that every restaurant, card issuer, building, or account will behave identically.

Start from the current official app, not an old workaround

1. Open Baemin’s global page and use its App Store or Google Play button to identify the current app.
2. Update the app before testing. On iPhone, the official listing directs users to the device’s Baemin language setting.
3. Set the delivery location to the actual hotel, Airbnb, or meeting point rather than browsing from a different neighborhood.
4. Choose a low-risk test order and continue far enough to see the address, fees, payment choices, and handoff instructions without placing an unwanted order.

This sequence matters because an old blog post or an old app screen can describe a registration barrier that the current international flow no longer presents. The live checkout is the relevant test.

Why a NICE screen is not the same as receiving an SMS

If a screen branded NICE appears, first identify which feature opened it. Baemin’s current global FAQ says a Korean phone number is not required for the ordering proposition it describes. A NICE screen may therefore indicate that you entered a different account, identity, gift, or payment-related path. That is an inference from the two sources, not a claim that every Baemin feature uses the same verification rule.

NICE ID’s official mobile identity page explains that its service checks both whether the phone is registered to the person and whether that person possesses the phone. Its SMS method compares carrier-registered identity information and then confirms possession with a code. Receiving a text on a travel SIM or another person’s number does not, by itself, satisfy that identity match.

Do not borrow another person’s identity details, repeatedly guess a name format, or assume a data-only eSIM can pass a carrier identity check. One phone can face three different questions

Do not use “phone verification” as a label for every problem. The questions are different:

• Can the current Baemin ordering flow be used without a Korean number? The official global FAQ currently says yes.
• Can a separate NICE or carrier identity screen match the subscriber? That depends on the registered owner information and the verification route shown.
• Can the rider reach you after checkout? A delivery still needs workable chat, call, location, or handoff instructions even when a Korean number is not a checkout requirement.

Test foreign-card payment at the final total

Baemin’s current FAQ is explicit that foreign credit cards are accepted. Use that as the starting point, then verify the actual transaction. A supported category is not a guarantee that every card authorization will succeed: the issuer can decline, authentication can fail, the app can reject a particular card entry, or a temporary error can interrupt checkout.

1. Read the restaurant subtotal, delivery fee, additional fee, discount, and final total.
2. Select the supported foreign-card or wallet route shown in your current app.
3. Complete any issuer authentication using your own card and contact details.
4. If the authorization fails, record the stage and error before trying one other supported method.
5. Stop repeated attempts if the issuer flags the charge or the error remains unclear.

Make hotel or Airbnb delivery physically possible

“Delivery to a hotel” means the address is within service range; it does not override the property’s access rules. Some properties allow riders only at the lobby or exterior entrance. An Airbnb may have a gate, several buildings with the same English name, or no staffed desk.

1. Ask the hotel or host whether outside food delivery is allowed and where the handoff occurs.
2. Copy the Korean road-name address from the property, or verify it with Korea’s official English road-name address search.
3. Add the Korean building name, entrance, lobby, or landmark. Put the room number only where the property permits it.
4. Choose a handoff point you can reach quickly and wait there as the rider approaches.
5. Keep the order number and a short translated message ready if the rider cannot find the entrance.

If Baemin still stops, fix the stage that failed

• Wrong language or unfamiliar menu: confirm the current app and change its language in the supported device setting.
• Address not found: paste the Korean road-name address, remove the room number, and select the building before adding a handoff note.
• NICE or identity screen: identify the feature that opened it; do not treat an SMS-capable number as proof of carrier identity.
• Card declined: save the exact stage, check the issuer, and try one other payment route that the app currently offers.
• Rider cannot enter: move to the approved lobby or exterior pickup point and send the shortest useful location message.
